TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught for years a junior high school in a large urban school district in New York City. I've taught grades 6, 7, 8 ELA including general education level, honors level, ESL/ELL beginners/intermediate/advanced, SWD, worked with IEPs, 504s, and basically every type of learner out there! On the weekends I tutor grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 for enrichment writing, grammar, and the SAT. I love everything about teaching and love a good challenge.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I currently teach ELA. with one period of reading and one period of writing each day. My students have their own independent reading novels at all times, and in class we read mainly short stories and articles. I incorporate reading, writing, and grammar skills into content specific lessons. For high school writing tutoring and SATs I use a wide variety of materials and create many original materials too.
