Description
This handout and accompanying smart board lesson slides works for teaching counter argument AKA counter claim writing. I created it for an honors level 7th grade class, but it would work all the way up to grade 12. It contains two examples of counter argument paragraphs broken down into sections so students can understand how to write a strong counter claim paragraph. This lesson is original and works for any argumentative or persuasive writing, but I used it with expeditionary learning grade 7 mod 4 screen time essay prompt, and this explanation really helps the kids understand it in an explicit and step by step way.
Both the smart board notes (also included as a PPT PowerPoint file) and worksheet are unlocked so you can edit them to meet your specific needs or essay prompt.
