Times have really changed with the proliferation of Social Media. (gasp) I encourage the kids to discover themselves. They use group work and peer correction to explore their content. I set an expectation for excellence, striving to the limits of their ability, and ask questions along the way. I reward them with kind words and treats. And when they take chances, making mistakes, I constantly let them know, they are on the right track.

Every important lesson in life can be learned by standing in a cold mountain stream, stalking trout with a rod and artificial flies,or in the successful execution of a moderately complex French dish. Focusing on the task at hand and realizing it has as much or as little importance as all the other events in my life, has helped me enjoy this ride, of education and life. I'm strict as hell. And the students feel my love and I tell them I love them, often. I hope you may find the joy and passion in your life; and your teaching may reflect the light inside you, as it has for me.
