Designing ELA resources and running operations for the BritLitWit TpT store became my full-time focus in 2021—and I couldn't be happier! Working with literature, pushing my creativity, and helping busy teachers is a dream job for me. I started my career in education as a high school English teacher (12th grade British literature) and then I worked as a curriculum designer and blogger at an educational nonprofit focused on helping students develop decision-making skills.
I love to design ELA resources that push students to dig into the purposes a work of literature serves. My resources typically emphasize the core critical thinking skills of interpreting, analyzing, and evaluating texts. I love to challenge students with well-crafted extended thinking questions and literary analysis assignments that maximize what students take away from reading a text. But in addition to that, I'm always on a mission to get students excited about reading literature in the first place. I love to create thought-provoking anticipation guides and fun intro activities that engage students' attention in the pre-reading phase too!
Experiences I loved most as a teacher: • Serving as the advisor for the students who produced the annual literary magazine • Getting even the most reluctant students excited about the mysteries of Macbeth • Seeing students design their own contemporary monsters as part of our Beowulf unit • Laughing through our class performances of The Importance of Being Earnest!

• Hi, I'm Jillian. I started the BritLitWit store in 2009! • I'm a Shakespeare fanatic (you'll see the heart and soul poured into my Macbeth and Hamlet bundles!). I'm trying to find the time to be able to read and write articles about all of the plays! • Besides working on the BritLitWit store, I can be found hanging out with my young son, running, cooking, reading in the bathtub, or watching dramas on Netflix!
