TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught for 10 years in a comprehensive high school in Southern California. My focus is 11th grade College-Prep and AP Language, however I also have experience teaching 9th and 10th grade. I served as my school's English Department Chair for 6 years, in which I wrote curriculum, created/revised common assessments, revised instructional guides, facilitated professional development and transitioned to Common Core. I've also been an active part of our district's ELA curriculum council and technology programs, and led school-wide professional development on various topics including collaboration and grading. I strongly believe in professional development and collaboration as these are opportunities to engage in life long learning in education. I am currently an AP Reader for the AP English Language and Composition Exam. I also participate and co-lead professional development relating to standards-based grading, AP access for underrepresented minority students, and textbook adoption for the ELA curriculum.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in supportive yet challenging with clear goals and expectations.
