Common Writing Mistakes- Grammar, Usage, and Mechanics Unit Plan
This unit plan was written for 9th-12th grade students to improve writing skills of students at any level. The unit comes complete with in-depth unit plans, handouts, PowerPoints, activities, and a final project. Rubrics and answer sheets are also included. Great for an introduction to a writing unit, this ten day unit can be used as a full two week unit or can be split into occasional brush-up lessons.

A Year of Vocabulary
This will replace or add to your vocabulary and spelling curriculum for the whole school year. Each list is designed to be cohesive to a Latin or Greek root and helps students develop a deep understanding of words. Each week I give my students a blank list (found on the last page) and I give them the week's words to add to their vocabulary folders. That week they practice, and at the end I quiz them on all the words they have learned so far. I leave blank spots in each list to encourage students

Vocabulary Unit Using An ABC Book
In this unit, I have used junior high vocabulary words to create an ABC book. In the book, I use quotation marks to quote the teacher explaining the words, definition, part of speech, and connection. I have used thought bubbles to record how the students connect to the words along with sentence strips. Included are blank pages where students can create their own ABC book with the words given by their teachers. There are worksheets teachers can use with their vocab unit as well.

Spelling Pretest Template with Vocabulary
This is the spelling pre-test template I use for my 2nd grade students. We use Treasures Curriculum. Every Monday, I print out a pretest for each student and I fold back the part with the words. They write the spelling words after I read each aloud in the first blank column with the stars, and when we are finished, they have to re-write each incorrectly spelled word correctly in the two boxes next to it.
