I take students out to the field and launch water balloons at boxes (recreating an "Angry Birds" level). Students work in groups of four - two holding the slingshot, one pulling the water balloon, and one group photographer. When we come back to class, I have students upload their photo to Desmos and find the quadratic equation to match the trajectory of their launch. I created these step-by-step instructions for students to walk them through how to do this on Desmos.
