A fun and creative way for students to demonstrate their understanding of trigonometry. This real world creative project allows students to add their personal touch to the project. They are able to show their learning in a fun and creative way.Included are detailed instructions, along with scoring rubric for ease of grading, and a sample student creative project.

Trigonometry Holiday Song Parody Project
Alternative assessment or bonus activity for your trigonometry unit! Students demonstrate their understanding of trigonometric functions by rewriting a holiday (or other) song. They can do it as a group or individually. Also makes a good music video project!

Origami Project
This project has students choose and fold a piece of origami. They will use the outline of the figure to create a polygon, triangulate the polygon, and use the Law of Sines and Cosines to find missing parts of triangles. Once triangles have been solved, students will find the area of each triangle (I teach Heron's area formula and Area=0.5(a)(b)sin(C) to streamline the process) to calculate the total area of their figure. Reflection Essay
I use this reflection essay over winter break to have the students reflect on their learning in all classes. I have adapted it for all of my classes over the years, and it's a good way to get the students writing more and reflecting on their learning and learning styles.
