This Reading Response Rubric I created for my 5th grade class, but also used a similar version when I taught 4th grade. The skills assessed are challenging, but the growth throughout the year was unbelievable. I modeled how to write one section at a time with a shared reading book. It can be modified for any grade level. The Reading Response Journal can be used during independent guided reading activity time or literacy centers-very adaptable!
