Curriculum Map Template {Middle & High School Humanities}
Having clearly mapped out units for the school year is critical in my practice, but I never quite found the right map to match my style and personality as a teacher. This curriculum map was designed by me, at the time, a 10-year veteran teacher, who decided to quit her comfortable job and take a new job closer to home. I created this map to help me navigate two brand new courses (English 1 and English 3) with the language, goals, and through processes that I felt comfortable with.

My Gratitude Jar (Mindfulness/thanksgiving/thankful/self-compassion/kindness)
I photocopied this and make a booklet for my students! Based on research, practicing gratitude will help students to stay calm, lower anxiety, and even develop new neural pathways for the brain! I even made one for myself so I could do it with my students!

Using weekly advertisements, from three different grocery stores, students will compare and contrast the cost of grocery shopping. While this project is based for a Midwest school, it may be adapted to any region of the United States. After completing the project, students reflect on why shopping smart is the best way to shop. Student Log - Classroom Interactions and Behavior
This is a simple student log for all interactions and behavior [positive and negative!]. I found myself wanting to remember funny comments students made, notes about who they worked with best, parent interactions, notes about their home life, etc. This form helps keep track of everything regarding a student, not just negative behavior. I find this particularly helpful in writing positive notes to students, as it really can include anything I'd like.

Test Corrections Worksheet
When my students do not perform as well as I/ they would like on a test, I allow (or require) them to make corrections. Sometimes this is used for students to earn extra credit points on the test itself. Other times I have required this to be complete before allowing a retake. I included a column where students need to explain what they did wrong so that they are forced to analyze their thought process and then communicate that to me.
