Start by writing a number in the "Number to Show" box. Drag the base ten blocks from the Tool Box to show a picture of each part of the number in the top row. Use the pen tool to write the number of each type of block in the appropriate column in the middle row. Standard and Expanded Notation Build a Number (Promethean Flipchart)

Help students develop conceptual place value understanding with this interactive lesson. Start by choosing a hundreds card for the hundreds space, a tens card for the tens space, and a ones card for the ones space. This shows students the expanded notation representation. Then move each card up to the standard notation area, lining up the arrows. Students can see each card separately and stacked up to show the same number in two different ways. Reset the page to repeat with other numbers.
