Simplifying numbers written in index form
Students learn how to use the multiplication and division rules to simplify numbers written in index form. As learning progresses they discover the power rule and power of zero.
The start of the lesson is used to recap calculating square and cube numbers. The plenary challenges students to simplify a range of expressions written in index notation including the power rule.
