Short guided notes in Cornell notes form (modified for math) on identifying and understanding the intercept and slope of a linear equation. In addition to the notes is a worksheet that walks students step-by-step through a series of calculations to figure out how long it would take carrion eaters to devour 10,000,000 zombies should the zombie apocalypse occur. This is the one lesson where I do not hear "When am I ever going to use this?!" because all teenagers know that the zombie apocalypse is

Within this PDF file of slides, students will learn about the notation of inverse functions, how to find inverses of functions algebraically, how to identify inverse functions graphically, and how to verify that two given functions are inverses of each other by using function composition. I like using a PDF file with i-Clickr-Mac with my iPhone as my clicker for the notes! So many pages are included so that the math is revealed step-by-step rather than all at once as you go. In the boxes, I give them the formulas for each type, and then apply them to real world problems from the Los Angeles area I have researched. It makes the lesson more attainable and fun for the students. For these, I use the formulas that involve e where appropriate, but these can easily be changed to their non-e counterparts.
