Healthy Eating - recognise basic fruits and vegetables

Before learning of the importance of fruits and vegetables to the human body, students must first be able to identify fruits and vegetables by their pictures. Most students should know by the pictures which are fruits and which are vegetables. Along with this the basic names of each may be known, but not emphasized in this activity. This is an editable template for an Exercise Wheel printed on 8.5" X 11" paper. Page 1 is the wheel base and page 2 is a sheet of arrows. Use brass fasteners to attach arrows. I used an X-acto to slice an X in the middle of the wheel to hold the brad in place and a regular hole-punch to punch the arrow so it would be able to spin freely. When attaching the brass fastener, be sure to leave space above the paper so the arrow is not held tightly.

These bulletin board posters can be used all year or for thematic teaching. In my classroom each student gets to be the 'star' on the bulletin board for two weeks. He/she has an opportunity to share the posters with the class and answer their questions. I also invite the children to bring photos to add to the bulletin board. Feelings like anger, sadness, disappointment, and anxiety may feel uncomfortable and might impact our daily lives and ability to do what is important to us. Even though we may not like these having these feelings, they mean our brains and bodies are reacting to our changing lives. While these feelings are valid, and we all feel them from time to time, we all have the power to help ourselves feel better. This project helps students feel comfortable talking about tough emotions and identify what c

Because we Commit to Always Reaching Everyone! This form is a good tool for teacher to report situations that inhibit students from reaching their fullest potential. It allows the administrative team and student success teams to keep a pulse on students that show excessive "minor" behaviors that add up and cause students to fall behind. I use this as an assistant principal as a communication tool that allows me to support the situation.

Tired of spending money to constantly replenish a treasure box? Me, too! After searching around Pinterest, I came across the idea of using Classroom Coupons to allow for students to participate in various activities as a reward, rather than using a treasure box. I used ideas from other teachers and created a set of coupons for 10 different activities, ranging from wearing a hat to sitting in the teacher's desk for a day. I made some activities only valid on Fridays for practicality's sake, b

This chart was designed for my six year old at home, not for my middle schoolers. Of our four kids, our youngest, the six year old, gives us the most argument about eating. So, to decrease the arguments and make her accountable for what she's eating rather than us, I designed this chart. It is in Microsoft Publisher (pages 2 and 3) so that it could be larger. After printing it in color and laminating it, I affixed the rough side of Velcro dots next to each food on the "plate," including the

Choosing a school is a huge decision. As a teacher, we use this to help families make an informed descision when they come to tour our school. New parents don't know the questions to ask and what to look for in a great school. You can simply delete the italized writing in each section and replace it with your own schools answers. Or as a parent you can use it to help guide you on about what to expect from schools.
