Description

This chart was designed for my six year old at home, not for my middle schoolers.

Of our four kids, our youngest, the six year old, gives us the most argument about eating. So, to decrease the arguments and make her accountable for what she's eating rather than us, I designed this chart. It is in Microsoft Publisher (pages 2 and 3) so that it could be larger. After printing it in color and laminating it, I affixed the rough side of Velcro dots next to each food on the "plate," including the milks and the waters. On the opposite, soft-side of the Velcro dot, I affixed colored stickers. I then made a second row of rough sided dots at the bottom of the page to act as a "home base" for the dots. As she eats a food from the "plate," she is responsible for moving a colored dot from Home Base to that food.

Now she knows that she can not even ask for a Popsicle or ice-cream unless her "plate" is filled with healthy choices. She has become very adept at moving the dots by herself. Furthermore, it has opened up conversation at the supermarket since she is now on the lookout for fruits and veggies that she may like in order to fill her quota.

This food plate opens the dialogue about healthy eating habits. Please rate this and my other products at my TpT Store. Take care!
