Jon Krakauer's Into the Wild is a nonfiction book that most high school students find relevant, fascinating, and thought provoking. But my experience with teaching the book also revealed that it can be a challenge because it is so chock full of information, much of which could be reinforced through visual representation. This Research Project supports CCSS for ELA 9 required reading, writing, and technology. Students will strengthen their research skills by focusing on a Social Injustice around the world, which may be paired with a Geography course. This bundle includes a getting started brainstorming activity, directions on MLA formatting, and student checklists for both peer edits, and final turn in. Students may also choose the present their project by using storyboard or prezi and a visual.
