Causes of the U.S. Great Depression - lecture

This is great for the beginning of a U.S. Great Depression unit. It's quite long, so even though I taught in 99-minute periods, I used to break this down and do 30 minutes per day.... Most Americans think that the Stock Market Crash caused the Great Depression, but really, that was a symptom, not a cause. Perfect for high school U.S. History courses.

Young people deserve better education on celebrity media. Exploiting the It Girl seeks to educate high school students on the history of celebrity media, specifically the exploitation of famous women in media, and how that media is tailored to influence young people's views, behaviors, and self-esteem. We thought it best to format this project as a website with collections of historical research, media examples, primary artifacts, and education resources, such as worksheets, lecture slides, and

Lecture: Sectionalism/antebellum era

This is the lecture I created to complement a wonderful TCI (Teacher's Curriculum Institute) simulated debate on sectionalism (1820-1861), which enables the students to understand why the U.S. engaged in the Civil War in April 1861. If you can't access TCI's simulated debate online for some reason (without buying the entire Civil War unit), this may be used in isolation as a lecture rather than as a complement to a simulated debate.
