What a great way to wrap up the school year or just challenge some Gifted and Talented Students throughout the year. About My Hood - How to Make a Relief Print of a City Street
Looking at two artists, young Lauren Halsey from LA and well-known Romare Bearden from Harlem, students will be inspired to create their own piece of art about their neighborhood. This lesson teaches how to make a simple relief print. Students will create a series of prints to make a horizontal depiction of a city street. Immigration Book Club and Choice Menu Project
As I was taking AIG courses through my school district, I completed this unit that I am currently using with my students. Students first complete book clubs or literature circles (however you want to structure this part) and then complete projects related to immigration issues on a choice board. Though I made this for AIG learners, it can be adjusted and modified to fit all learners.

Snow Person Hunt:A fun and easy way to create some winter fun before the break!
The message to StaffWe’ve got a problem on our hands! SEVENTY sneaky, sly snow people have gotten loose in our building! We need your help finding each one before the winter break! If you find a snowman, snow woman, or any snow creature hiding in our building, please bring them to the office to claim a prize. The search will begin on December 1.
