5 Paragraph Argumentative Essay Scaffold With Citation Help

I was inspired by a Kate Kinsella workshop that I attended and created this scaffolded essay template. I wanted my sixth-grade and seventh-grade students to write a five-paragraph argumentative essay that included spaces for citing their research. This template is entirely full of sentence frames, and both gifted, ELL, and SPED students enjoyed this activity. What's great about this template is the fact that you can edit it as needed. I highly recommend providing students with a writing checklist

Argument Essay Graphic Organizer Rough Draft with Sentence Frames

Many students have trouble organizing an essay so I created this graphic organizer with sentence frames for students to fill in their thoughts. Normally, I print two copies. With the first copy, I model for the students and have them copy my writing. Then, with the second copy, they can work in pairs or independently to complete the organizer. I usually use this as a rough draft. I recommend the students already have their 3 pieces of supporting evidence chosen prior to using this graphic organi

Biography Essay Rubric

A simple essay rubric that I use for biographies. In my school my students can sometimes be absent for longer periods of time, so I generally assign them mini-research projects/essays where I can be a little bit more indirect with the learning and not teach from a textbook. That being said, this rubric often can be used for English as well as History. It's a bit informal, but also creative at the same time, and I find it hits a lot of areas both subjects try to focus on.As with all of my products

As such, it can be devoured in a single class period by any middle school or high school class. I started making this resource with my 8th grade class in mind. For that reason, the marginal questions appear to be more surface level with the focus on imagery and characterization. However, the more I read and annotated myself, the more I real
