Virtual Xylophone for PowerPoint
I have created a diatonic and chromatic virtual xylophone for PowerPoint. The bars can be removed and added and the two versions can easily be switched. It even remembers what bars you took off or left on.
This can be used on a Promethean Board or SMARTboard and is great when used with the large yarn mallets. The instrument is monophonic and plays as fast as you can click or tap the screen (for touch devices).

This is a Notebook file I created to begin talking to students about the different ways we can make sounds from musical instruments.
When you click on each image of the instruments, the appropriate noise is made (ie someone drumming, a guitar playing). Simply play each one and have students decide how that instrument is played.
