I was on the hunt for a letter to have my Elf bring with him when he makes his debut in my classroom next week, but wanted one that didn't specifically mention Santa or Christmas. Students love the story of the Nutcracker. Included in this document is a re-telling of the story and a fun project! Students color and cut out a nutcracker doll, then glue him to an empty paper towel roll for a 3D nutcracker of their very own. This can easily be done in a 20 to 30-minute time period in school, but it is fun to give this as a take-home project so that students can use additional materials (sequins, beads, feathers, etc.) and bring back for a colorful display at school!
