Magic Glue
This song is great to get some of the wiggles out before a listening activity. Start by passing out imaginary bottles of glue. Have the children "glue" body parts together when instructed by the song. The only way they can come unglued is to hear the magic word "Abracadabra." At the end of the song the children glue their hands to their mouths and no one can say the magic word. I have a sign that I hold up that says "Abracadabra." This song is just like the zoo song except it is about farm animals. Use this song during circle time or have the children get up and act like the animals in the song. This is a great song to introduce a farm unit or to use as a transitional song.

Smelly Song
In this song the children pretend to smell something cooking for lunch. Sometimes they smell pizza "Yum!" and sometimes they smell onions "Pew!" We sing this song while we are waiting for lunch to begin. The children love to rub their bellies for the yummy foods and hold their noses for the smelly foods.

Fried Ham
This is an old camp song. The children will sing the same silly song over and over using different voices. One of their favorite voices (and mine) is the "Opera Singer" voice. I have the children clasp their hands in front of them and sit up straight and sing in their best grown-up voice. It is a riot. A lot of fun to sing when you have just a little bit of time or waiting to go to lunch. Once you learn the song have the children come up with their own voices.

Toy on the Floor
This is a simple tune to encourage children to carefully look around the room while they are cleaning up their toys. When you have learned the tune, you can substitute your own verses for the toys that you would like the children to pick up - "There's a block on the floor," "There's a puzzle on the table," "Sit at your desk now that we've cleaned up this great big mess." At the end of the song I tell the children that they won't see me anymore and I start to cry. They think that is hysterical

Pick Up Chant
This is another transitional song to help children put toys away. I have used a variety of percussion instruments to create a simple chant. The "instrument" is asking children to put the toys away, not the teacher or the parent. The children enjoy marching around the room and cleaning up toys while listening to this song. I challenge the children to clean up the room before the song is over. For bigger messes, combine this song with "Put Away Time" and "Toys on the Floor".

Apples are Growing
OK. We got a little carried away with this song. I wrote it to use during an apple them, but on the CD it was kind of boring so we jazzed it up a bit with an electric guitar sound. It's a bit different, but a great song for the kids to act out going to an apple farm, picking the apples and eating the apples.

We had a unit about pets in my class one year. This is a short and simple song about a pet kitty, dog and fish. Have the children act like the animals for this song. Make up new verses for different pets like a lizard, rabbit, or a guinea pig. Have the children share stories about their pets.
