Smart STEM Tallest Christmas Tree
Tis the season for holiday STEM! Here is a SmartBoard activity that I made for a 2nd grade class. This Smart has directions, materials, charts and timers for the activity. Students are to build the tallest Christmas tree that they can in 15 minutes. At the beginning, I have the jobs broken down. For my class, I will not assign specific jobs, but for some classes it could be needed. For older grades, have the students graph their data they collected.

Christmas Trivia SmartBoard Activity
This is a very fun game to play on the SmartBoard. It is adaptable for any number of participants. You can play the game using the Smart Response clickers but they are not required. The game designed to use a koosh ball or bean bag to throw at the dancing reindeer to bring up a question. If you don't want to use this techniques students can touch the reindeer and the question will open.

Christmas/Holiday Brainstorm Game
This is a quick game to play during the holiday season that helps increase students' brainstorming skills.
Played like Scattegories, divide the students into groups. Have each group number a piece of paper or dry erase board from 1 to 12. One person in each group should serve as the recorder.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Down Solfege Pattern Game: Level 3
In this SMART notebook file, the teacher will click on the link on each page, and a recorded solfege pattern played on the piano (in the key of D+) will sound. Students simply show you which pattern they hear by giving you a thumbs up or down! A nice, easy informal assessment to see quickly who "has it"!

Sleigh Ride Hand Jive visual support
This is a visual to support the learning of the "Sleigh Ride Hand Jive" shown in You Tube clips. It was used to help students with autism to learn the routine, but will help anyone learning to do the jive with the song. The routine works with any recording of the famous holiday song "Sleigh Ride" and is an excellent piece to include in your winter concert.
