This is based on the game "Battleship" only using Latitude and Longitude and a world map as the game board. Its a fun way to review/teach students how to use coordinates. I have used it with 6,7, and 8th grade students and they all love it. Its great for engagement.

My STAR Test Goals - Student goal setting for standardized tests
This is a fully editable .DOC file that I have used to help my students set goals for their STAR test throughout the school year.
As a bonus, students can practice their measurement & data skills.
I have used this in a whole group setting, making an anchor chart with good test taking practices in order to help students brainstorm for the "two things I will do to reach my goal". I have also used this leading up to their STAR test and post STAR test during individual student conferencing.

Test Taking Strategies / Follow Directions Prank/Fake Quiz
This quiz is a fun and funny way to get students to realize they need to pay attention to directions.
There is a list of numerous steps to complete, which can actually be fun for students. HOWEVER, the first step says to "read all directions before continuing" and the last step says "only do..." so most students mess this up and do all the steps as they go along. Then you can give them the lesson at the end :)
