Words Their Way - Word Sort - Word Study Notebook Directions

This is a great tool for setting up your "Words Their Way" self-paced spelling program which gives you time to meet with spelling groups. This would also work for any word family spelling program that includes word sorts.

It is designed as a reference for students to remind them of the activities that they are permitted and required to complete throughout each week of Word study. Each activity much be explicitly taught for most effective word study practice.

It is a word document therefore can easily be modified.

This is the directions document that I print TWO PER PAGE and have students tape to the inside cover of their spelling spirals. Then entire weekly spelling work and end of the week test is done in the spiral. Students get the word sort words on Monday, then, throughout the week they complete four activities. On Fridays they take their tests and hand in their spirals.
