Understanding Musicals
I use this as an intro to my musical unit in my cinema and literature class. This helps students understand the history of stage and film musicals, and the different workings of musical production. I pair this with a follow-up activity where I give examples from musicals (whichever musical you are viewing) where they will identify the song type or placement within the musical.
