How the Drugs of Abuse Affect the Synapse
In this mini-lesson, I show how the most commonly abused drugs affect the synapse, thereby causing addiction. Drugs can have different affects on the synapse, such as mimicry of a neurotransmitter, the blocking of the re-uptake of neurotranmitters or stimulation of the release of a neurotransmitter. In this sheet, I show the action on the synapse and then ask questions at the end. It can be glued into their notebook also.
