Exponential and Log Equation Circuit

Created by
Emily Kelly
This 14 question circuit that I wrote for my Algebra 2 students has problems with log equations, exponential equations, log properties and evaluating logs. It is meant to be completed without a calculator as long as students know some powers of integers from 2-10. There is some work with rational exponents and solving linear equations with fractions also.

After you have introduced some basic concepts about polynomial functions and their graph to students, begin introducing them to analyzing the key features of the graph: zeros, turning points, local extrema, intervals where the function is positive & negative, and intervals where the function is increasing & decreasing. These scaffolded notes and practice pages work great for students to understand this complex topic. The only thing students need besides the note or practice page you give

Long Division of Polynomials Circuit

Students work to complete 12 long division of polynomials problems. They hunt in the circuit for the answer to the current problem. When they find it, that is the next problem they complete. So, the worksheet is somewhat self-checking. If students can't find their answers, then they know they need to find their errors. There are problems with no remainders and some with remainders. There are also polynomials with a constant "a" that the students need to determine which gives a specified re

Transformations!

Algebra 2 level Transformations packet highlights Linear, Absolute Value, Radical, Quadratic, Logarithmic, and Exponential functions. It includes 10 lessons with teacher guided problems for listing transformations, adjusting points to graph transformed functions without a calculator, applying rules of transformations to create new functions, and a bonus lesson for graphing logarithms using three points. Could be used for a quick basic (possibly independent) run down for an honors class or coul

This is a one page handout that has students create their own design using line segments, then calculate slope, write equations, find x and y intercepts, and write the domain and range in interval notation. There is an example on the second page along with a grading rubric. This activity will take 1-2 class periods. It is highly adaptable. I left the file in Word 97-2002 format so you can tweak it for your needs. This is practice finding the equation of a line given a graph, but doesn't ha

Increasing, Decreasing, Domain, Range, Function Values Graph

It is hard to find graphs for students to be able to identify where a function is increasing, decreasing, constant, domain, range, maximums, minimums, and function values. I have worked really hard over the years to create my own graph to use as practice or even a quiz on these topics.

Given a graph, students will find limits of functions using the three types of discontinuities: removable, jump, and infinite. The table provided allows students to find limits using left and right behavior, and determining if it exists from both sides. Also, students will find the functional values at these critical points.

This file consists of 5 graphs of functions for which students are asked to give domain and range in interval notation, as inequalities and in set notation. They also are asked for intervals of x where the function is increasing, decreasing, positive, negative and constant. For some graphs, students are asked to give intervals of x for which the function is, for example, BOTH positive and decreasing. On the final graphing grid, students are asked to sketch a graph with given attributes. The l
