Introduction to Trigonometry SOHCAHTOA guided practice

This lesson was designed and built based on the needs of students that need Trigonometry broken down for understanding. Since my first year, I have noticed that students often select trigonometry ratios based on a guess rather than understanding of how to use the ratios. Beginning with a short lesson with a coloring page that reinforces how to properly identify the hypotenuse, adjacent, and opposite sides of a right triangle. After this short lesson has been completed, a guided note page is prov

All problems are designed to be answered with a graphic organizer I designed called FICA (Formula, Insert, Calculate, Answer) to solve an open response question. Students are to arrange their answer similar to the quadrants of a coordinate grid. Quadrant I Formula: What is given in the problem? What mathematical rules apply to this problem? This is a practice or review PowerPoint lesson after introducing congruent figures, specifically focusing on congruent triangles. Students will use statements of congruency and diagrams to identify congruent corresponding parts, and use that information to solve for missing sides and angles. (Some review of systems of linear equations with 2-variables as additional review) This includes the electronic worksheet and fully animated PPT with solutions.

I have used this project to help students learn about parallel lines and angle relationships formed by parallel lines cut by a transversal. You can use it as an internet activity with dragging icons and lines onto the page on page #5 or a paper copy activity on page 4 and page 6. It's really fun and interactive for all students. Thank you! I added 2 examples of the paper copy of the project.

This is a fun way for students to create a city using quadrilaterals. The rubric can be edited. I just use an easier way to grade by having students come up with the name of the city, shapes, and the colors. Some students may choose to do it on paper. They can use the template on slide #7. I just give them paper and scissors to cut their shapes to make their city.
