I teach a 4th grade class where the majority of students read at a low 3rd grade level. The best way to get these guys to read is to assign a book and have them read one chapter a night for homework. I send home one page of questions to go with the chapter. I usually photocopy math practice for the other side of the paper. (Over the weekend, I will usually assign multiple chapters and no math).
