Modeling with Sinudoidal Functions - Foxes and Rabbits
Sinusoidal functions are a staple of Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus but the modeling problems in the textbooks are always so dry. I can't stand any more weights on a spring or riders on a ferris wheel! I wanted to make a problem that would be more interesting than the classic textbook tropes and I also wanted students to experience data that could be modeled this way. Of course, data is never perfect so the data provided here can be modeled with sine or cosine but no model will completely exact.

Solving Triangles using Excel (Editable)
I think that when we use technology in the classroom with our students, we should teach them to use technology as a tool. One of the best applications for using a spreadsheet in class is in the solution of triangles. After my students have mastered the laws of sines and cosines with handheld calculators, and are familiar with the ambiguous case, I have them redo the same problems using excel.

We solve triangles using the three laws: Cosines, Sines and Tangents - in addition we show derivations of the three laws and, in the case of the law of tangents, Newton's Formula.
As our presentation is rather parsimonius, we offer talking points in the vocabulary section.
