Geometry Project - Geometry Town
Students will create a town map made of different geometric figures. They will demonstrate their knowledge of parallel and perpendicular lines, acute and obtuse angles, geometric shapes as well as many other geometric concepts through this creative and fun project.
This project can be adapted to higher level geometry courses and high school classes. You can add parameters to the geometric shaped buildings (ex. must label the dimensions of the building given a certain area or perimeter).

I like to call this activity Putt-Putt-Geometry. It is 9 glorious holes of trigonometry application! This works great as a Trig unit project, end of year project, or test review (maybe 1 or 2 holes for review). The students can work in groups, pairs, or individuals. If your students are not proficient with Trig, or you have not covered it yet, each hole can be done using the Pythagorean Theorem instead - simply tweak the directions a bit. Introduction to Geometric Constructions (learn through play) with Answer Key
Geometry students often like to "play" with their compass and straightedge when they first use them: this activity is exactly what I use to get some mileage out of this urge to play: by just repeatedly drawing full circles (as opposed to arcs), students can generate midpoints, perpendicular lines, parallel lines, regular triangles, regular hexagons, and sixty and thirty degree angles.
