End of Year Math Project - I can teach __________!

So it is the end of the year. You're burnt out. The kids are burnt out. But you need to review for the Final Exams/End of Year Testing. Here is a great project for your students that will get them engaged and have them reviewing the material without the class getting bored with the same old examples. In this project, students have just been hired as the new (Insert Subject Here) Teacher at their school! Now it is their job to teach the rest of the class what they need to know for the end of ye

Recognizing Multiple Representations of Linear Relationships

This product is a good overview of Linear Relationships and how to recognize them in symbolic form (equations), tabular form (tables), graphical form (graphs), and contextual/verbal form (words/stories). It can be used as an overview for units on Linear Relationships. I've used it as a review for upper-level math students, such as Algebra 2 and Calculus students. If you like this handout, you may also appreciate "Recognizing Multiple Representations of Quadratic Relationships." James Kiefer

I created this lab as an intro into two dimensional motion for my physics classes. The lab uses all the techniques of adding vectors head-to-tail and demonstrates for them that the two vectors being added to make a resultant are the components of that resultant. This lab is great practice and very self-explanatory for grades 11 and 12. I created this lab so that it was an electronic lab so that they could open the lab on their computers, fill out the lab in MS Word, and submit it back to me onli

This is a small collection of 3 math worksheets on the Calculus topic of derivatives. The worksheets provide instant feedback and fun for the math students because the answers correspond to letters or images that lead to the decoding of secret messages and pictures. They are also self-grading, which makes them ideal for customized treatment of learners. They are tested by multiple teachers, including the author and her colleagues. If you like these, you'll love "PUZZLE MATH: Trigonometry and Log

This Tic-Tac-Toe worksheet is a great activity for Calculus AB and BC students to practice power rule, product rule, quotient rule, chain rule, trigonometric derivatives, inverse trigonometric derivatives, and implicit differentiation. Students enjoy competing and getting instant feedback. The worksheet is editable so you can change it for your classes needs. ALSO, I suggest setting the layout to "Narrow Margin" so both tic-tac-toe boards and the tiebreaker fit on one sheet. Instructions:1. Put

Flow chart for solving quadratic equations

This flow chart gives a structured way to solve a quadratic equation. I came up with this after noticing that even my pre-calculus and calculus students spent a lot of time (when they reached a quadratic equation) trying to factor. If the students use this regularly, they will remember the method and save a lot of time. A good strategy for preparing for SATs too.

This graphic organizer was made after out school got bit by the "Max Thompson" bug. We are working hard to implement Learning Focused Strategies. Research shows that students who learn with graphic organizers are better prepared for assessment. My students did better on their test than in years past. I had the students put the information on a Frayer diagram themselves. This way they had ownership of the organizer and were more interested in it. Vanessa
