My non-fiction student worksheet template is best used with non-fiction books, autobiographies, biographies, articles and fact based texts.
It's a great tool to help kids become familiar with nonfiction text and is aligned with the Common Core's section titled Reading Informational Text.
Included on the last page of the packet, is a note about the blank box. I like my students to include a sketch of something that relates to the topic.

Poetry Analysis Strategy SWIFTT with Taylor Swift songs
I can't post the songs but you can easily look up their lyrics online. SWIFTT, Speaker, Word Choice, Imagery, Figurative Language, Tone and Theme. I teach the strategy with Mean by Taylor Swift. After the mini-lesson, I give my students a choice between 3 other Taylor Swift songs, Bad Blood, Shake it off, and Red to annotate on their own with the SWIFTT strategy.
