Peanut or Nut Allergy Letter to Send to Parents
Written by a certified school nurse, this letter home explains to parents what a nut allergy is and what their role is. Most parents don't understand how severe nut allergies can be. This letter is easy to understand and should be sent home at the beginning of the year and prior to holiday parties where food will be brought in for your class.

Pass to Nurse's Office
Pass to the nurse's office. Four passes per sheet. Includes student name, date, time leaving class, checklist of reasons for visiting the nurse, checklist for nurse to mark "actions taken" (called home/provided meds/checked temp), place for nurse to write the time student left, and nurse's signature.
I worked at one middle school where passes like this were provided for teachers, but have since moved and had no pre-printed passes available, so I just made one based on what I remembered! Thanks

Peanut Free Zone (Peanut Allergies)
Hang this sign on your door anytime you have a child with peanut allergies or egg allergies. It will remind parents and students to keep the room peanut free and/or egg free.
Also include are parent notes kindly asking that all whole class party treats be peanut free and/or egg free. It can be sent home at the beginning of the year and anytime you are having a class party.

Worry Monsters
Many children have worries. To help children cope, adults can encourage young children to draw or print their worries and in turn externalize these challenging emotions. With the children and families that I work with, we like to draw our worries on "Worry Monsters." The worry monsters can then hold onto the worry so that the child does not have to.
