Map Scale Activity for Promethean Board
This is an interactive map scale activity for users of Promethean boards. Students are introduced to the concept of map scale and shown an example. Then, students visit a town and use the onscreen ruler tool (found under math tools) to measure the distance between points in inches. Students convert inches to the unit found on the map scale.
Two different map scale activities are included - one with inches converting to miles, the other with inches converting to yards.

Measuring Matter Flipchart
This is a flipchart that I used in the STEM Lab during an experiment. After I explained how to find each measurement, the students had a specific object to measure. This flipchart was great to give the students a visual to look at during the experiments.

Temperature Routine (Promethean Flipchart)
Engage students in the practice of meteorology by observing the weather each day. After students come in from recess, they can predict what the temperature is. Simply click on the icon to visit the National Weather Service site. Returning to the flipchart, a student can drag the gray bar to show the temperature for the given day and color code the bar using the paint bucket tool. At the end of the week, print out the page (in color if possible) and display along the ceiling in the classroom.

Elapsed Time Tic Tac Toe Steps ActivInspire Flipchart
This Promethean ActivInspire flipchart introduces the concept of Elapsed Time using the Tic Tac Toe Strategy. If you haven't heard of this strategy, it is marvelous! I can't really explain it in the description because it is in the flipchart in very easy-to-follow step-by-step directions. Elapsed time can be a difficult concept, but not when you use this strategy. I have used it very successfully in my classroom for three years now.

Quilts of the Heart Craft Activity for ActivBoard
Every year during the winter my students and I love to make paper quilts. There is so much American history in the topic of quilting. This activity is fun for students of any age as they create quilt blocks from a template. This ActivBoard activity is linked to literature, math and social studies.
