As an elementary school teacher responsible for developing my students' writing skills, I got awfully tired of reading the same words over and over in their pieces. Cool, for example, was ubiquitous, an adjective that qualified everything and ultimately meant nothing. Very seemed to modify every verb under the sun. As you know testing will be here before you know it. I have realized that my students struggle with higher level thinking questions because of the big words that are used. I have taken some of these words and put it in "kid friendly" language. I will be laminating these and create a Word Wall for my students to refer to over the next couple of months. Hope you enjoy!
