Allow students to explore the regional differences between the North and the South through hexagonal thinking. Collaborative pairs/groups arrange the hexagonal cards to discover patterns and relationships. Once finished, pairs/groups create a summary of their arrangement. After the summary, I like to send a student out (the reporter) to visit with the other groups. Group members share their summaries with the reporter who then reports back to his group. Any revisions can be made if necessary.
