Scale model of the Solar System
During this activity students will calculate the scale distances for each of the planets makes 93,000,000 miles=1 cm. Then students will use their rounded results to create a poster that represents the scale distances of the planets. Once my students were done I let them decorate with beads, string, and glitter! Once they complete their posters they will complete conclusion questions as a group.

This fun project allows students to use their knowledge of plate tectonics: formation of landforms, plate boundaries, natural resource deposits, to create their own super continent. This project can be done as a group or can be done individually. The document has a student checklist and a rubric for the teacher. I used this as an end of the unit assessment instead of a traditional test.

Students can compare and contrast Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic Cells, and Plant and Animal Cells in this creative Cell Folder Project. The assignment can be completed in class, or for homework. Organelle structure and function is illustrated with pictures and analogies. Because the rubric is included with the instructions, students can monitor their progress and achievement level. By choosing analogies for organelle function, students establish their own framework learning cellular structures.
