I have typed up the lyrics to 3 of the history songs (No More Kings, Shot Heard Round the World and the Preamble) but have removed certain words. My students watch the video once and then fill in the lyrics as we listen a second (and sometimes third) time to the song. I wanted a way for them to interact with the video and get the songs stuck in their heads! It is great as the start to a unit and as a fun wrap up.If you would like all 11 America Rock songs including I'm Just a Bill and Sufferi

Songs of the Enlightenment! Which Enlightenment Philosopher would sing it?

Students listen to songs be modern artists from Youtube, and try to figure out which philosopher's message goes along with the song! Very fun, good way to incorporate music into the classroom and to change things up! Each philosopher can only be used once, but students can build their case with enough evidence to support their choice. Some artists are easy, others are more on the line.

Articles of Confederation Poem Analogy With The Old Woman Who Lives In A Shoe

In teaching the Articles of Confederation, I teach it to students as the story of the old woman who lived in the shoe. All the power was in the hands of the states (children) and the central government (the Old Woman) was weak and powerless. I dress up as an old woman when I teach this lesson and I read this poem to get students to realize the similarities between The Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe and the Articles of Confederation. This version of The Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe is especia

Everyone has their own preference on the type of music that they listen too. There are several different types of genres and more will be created as we move through time. Culture and music go hand and hand. Music unites the people within a culture. In this assignment, students will find a recent song that deals with the political or social culture of the American society today. There are several questions that they will ask and if you want (I do this) you can have them present it to the class in
