Poetry Analysis With Hero Themed Music / Song Lyrics
If your students love music as much as mine do they will love this music analysis activity! Students are asked to listen to / read the lyrics for songs with a Hero Theme. They must choose their two favorites and discuss the meaning of the songs and why they like it. I also allow my students to pick any other song that they can find that relates to the hero theme. Why “this” activity?I recently noticed in my 7th & 8th graders summary writing, they struggle to recognize and eliminate redundant phrases. Rather than drill and kill with redundancy examples, I was hoping to find something they might enjoy while linking to a cultural reference. Since I teach in SW Missouri, country music is an easy link to make for my kids.
