The students are shown five popular music videos on YOUTUBE. While watching the videos they make notes. After watching, they work together to answer questions concerning the elements of plot in each video. Then individually, each student charts the elements of plot in one of the five videos.

This song is great for Black Heritage Month, a unit on Identity, MLK Day, and preterite and imperfect identification. Students will watch the video, read the lyrics, identify preterite and imperfect verbs, then they will answer a series of questions which will guide them through understanding the song. Last they will answer some personal questions and make connections to their lives. This will take more than one class period unless you have block scheduleing.
