I've even had parents tell me that if they knew about "The Land of Gallon" story they would have understood liquid measurement when they were in school. As you read the story, have the students draw along with you. The giant G is for gallon, the 4 Q's are the queens, the 8 P's are the Prince and Princess. "The Ghost of John" Interactive Song Game
This is a Powerpoint X presentation for the song "The Ghost of John" by Martha Grubb. It is a collection of images that go with the lyrics and a game with those images. (Note: due to the song being copyrighted, the sheet music is not included.)
The first four slides are images that go with the lyrics of the song. The teacher sings or plays the song while clicking through those images. You may also set up timings so you don't have to click for each slide change.

These are songs to help my students remember the Customary Measurements of length, weight, and volume. They are all sung to the tune of "This Old Man" (or the Barney song hehe). I have them in the tables because we put them in our Pocket Conversion Books. My kids love singing the songs and I even get requests!

It is a great suppliment for students who are learning about measuring capacity. This 2 verse song teaches about cups, pints, quarts, and gallons. It's quick, fun, and easy to memorize by following the tune of "Three Blind Mice".
