STAAR Surgeons
This is a great way to start working on STAAR passages with your students after the holidays. It is a very bright idea a coworker shared with me about four years ago to start implementing STAAR simulations in the classroom. I modified it a bit and gave it a name as well designed the thinking tracks that go along with it. It is a extremely engaging way to apply all knowledge previously taught in the classroom. Student-Made Anchor Charts Activity: Story Elements (Plot, Character, Irony)

STAAR "Create a Review Game" Activity with Rubric
This is a group project where students use the engineering design process to create a STAAR review game. Each group gets a topic/TEK to create their game design. They will get feedback from their classmates after playing each other's games. The first page is for teacher use. Author Poster Project
This is a power point to help guide a project in which students create a poster to describe a particular author. I also printed the directions to give to the students as a houndout.
