Geometry Proof Puzzle

Students use a word bank and their knowledge of triangle proofs to complete 3 "puzzles". CpCtC is used as well so I recommend using this after you teach that topic unless you wanted to modify the word bank and proofs. I had my students glue/tape their answers to construction paper to hang up around the classroom. I've used this multiple years and I really like how it turned out.

Math Lab: 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 Triangle Puzzle/DISTANCE LEARNING/NO PREP

This is a great reinforcement for students who are studying the 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 triangles and the relationships among the legs and hypotenuse. Students will use their skills in radical manipulations and rationalizing the denominators. The puzzle is an assembly of a square and various 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangles. The measure of only 1 line segment from all of the figures is given, and the students will determine the measure of each and every other line segment using the information t

Math Lab: 45-45-90 triangles and circle puzzle/DISTANCE LEARNING/NO PREP

* A collage of a circle and a square is presented; diagonals are inserted. * A chart below the figures is given for students to fill in the measurements of each segment and/or circumference based on one given value. * The puzzle is quite the challenge, but can be a rewarding activity to complete especially if students compete with one another in class to see who can fill the table fastest and most accurately. * Additionally, the puzzle can be used as an extra credit project when they fin

Graph a Picture Project - Standard Form Smart Notebook File

This is a project I used to asses student's ability to graph equations of circles in general form. The students will be required to choose two equations from the given list to graph and then create four of their own circles to incorporate into their picture. I really enjoyed doing this project with my students because I was able to asses their skills as well as experience their creativity. This Smart Notebook file includes a description of the project, project guidelines, ten circle equations

Bouncing Ball Video Activity

This is a great hands on lesson that allows students to put their knowledge of quadratics into practice. Students work in groups of 3 or 4 to create a video of a ball bouncing, and then label the characteristics of the parabola created. You will need an iPad for each group with an app that allows students to record and then draw on the video. I have used Coach My Video app, it is free and it works great. Also need a tennis (or other bouncy) ball, some tape to mark height measurements on a wall,
