Students simply read the words and decide if the item is light and should be measured in ounces, or heavier, and should be weighed in pounds. Really heavy things should be weighed in tons. They then cut, sort and record the words into the correct category. This can be used for morning work, whole group guided practice, small group work, independent practice or an assessment.
