This is a lab report template that can be used for any scientific investigation. It requires students to address all of the elements of the scientic method including: stating the problem, hypothesis (including stating the independent and dependent variables), procedures to carry out an experiment, analyzing and recording data, and a conclusion section. There is a graphing grid attached to the document so that students can graph the data from the analyze and record section of the lab report.

This is the lab sheet/guide I created to dissect owl pellets. It has simplified instructions, a bone counting chart, post-lab questions about body systems, and a mouse skeleton on the back page.Some pellets contain small birds, but I've only ever gotten mice. I did this lab during an anatomy unit to prepare for mammal dissections, but this lab would be great during an ecosystem unit- just change the post-lab questions to ask about food chains, consumers, etc.
