Building Model Lungs and the Respiratory System
In this lesson, students will learn how the lungs function, particularly, how the expansion and contraction of the diaphragm contribute to the inflation and deflation of the lungs. The preliminary lesson will identify the components of the lungs and their involvement in respiration. How to find the volume of a solid using the liquid displacement method
This is a short, animated, PowerPoint slide show, demonstrating the method used to find the volume of an irregular solid (a swimmer doll) using liquid displacement. The original volume of water in the graduated cylinder is measured, the swimmer races over to the graduated cylinder and jumps into the water, the water level rises, and the new volume of the water is measured.
