This is a lesson from my "Grammar Rocks" series. This lesson introduces proper nouns and focuses on names of people. The lesson starts out reviewing nouns with cubes. Students will roll the cube and name if the picture shows a person, place or thing noun. Next proper nouns are introduced and students are are asked to write their name and circle the capital letter. This is a great smart notebook activity for short vowels. The first few weeks of first grade are spent on short vowels. I collected these songs and then made them into fun, interactive smart board activities. Children enjoy the pictures as well as the fun rhythm in the songs. Sentence Diagramming & Building
