J.J. Wren graduated from Texas State University with a bachelor's degree in music education. While at Texas State, he was a member of many of the top ensemble groups including Bobcat Band, PASIC marching ensemble, percussion ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and Ceremonial Brass. His leadership roles included snare section leader, drumline captain, and principal percussionist in Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and Ceremonial Brass. J.J. also played center marimba for the Crossmen front ensemble in the summer of 2009. His instructors have included Kari Klier, Craig Turner, Dean Ponseti, Genaro Gonzalez, Bobby Lopez, and Nathan Ratliff. J.J. has worked with several percussion programs around the northeast San Antonio area, most recently serving as the drumline/pit technician and private lessons instructor for Seguin ISD. He has several published works as well, both by Row Loff Productions and Key Poulan Music, and has arranged the marching percussion music for Seguin HS, San Marcos HS, and Texas State University. In 2014, J.J. received a Masters of Music Education with Kodaly Emphasis from Texas State University. He taught at Hemphill Elementary in Kyle, TX from 2011-2015 and is currently teaching at Auburndale Central Elementary in Auburndale, FL. He lives in Winter Haven, FL with his wife and fellow music educator, Tristi and daughter Cadence, and their 3 dogs, Simon, Henri, and Oliver.
